Pipe welder: specializing in joining pipes

A pipe welder is a welder who specializes in joining different types of pipe joints and piping systems. Being able to properly suture and weld the correct dimensions are important tasks. The pipe welder is mainly employed by construction or installation companies in sectors such as the oil and gas industry, shipbuilding, chemicals and the food industry.

What does a pipe welder do?

The pipe welder works closely with the pipe fitter. Assignments are completed independently. He makes specialist and certified welding work. The pipe welder can read and interpret welding technical drawings and welding method descriptions (WPS). He makes and repairs pipe joints and piping systems. The main activities are:

  • Finishing


The pipe welder receives orders from the company office, assistant welding foreman and/or workshop manager. The pipe welder reports to the cooperating welding foreman and/or workshop manager.
