Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ)

A welder qualification allows you to demonstrate that the welders in your welding company have the right skills to weld qualitatively and safely. It is becoming increasingly common for welding activities to have to meet certain quality requirements. Elektrolas carries out welder qualifications according to European and American standards. This gives you absolute certainty about the quality of the welding work in your welding company.

What is a welder's qualification?

A welder's qualification is a certificate that demonstrates the professional competence of a welder. This certificate is personal and proves that the welder meets all the requirements for his specific professional profile.

Welders' qualifications are becoming increasingly important because welding companies are more often required to carry out welding work in accordance with EN-ISO and AWS standards. The welder's skill is demonstrated by laying down a test weld according to a WPS (welding method description).

The welder's qualification can expire and must therefore be maintained.

Renewing a welder's qualification

The validity of a welder's certificate is limited. Every 6 months you have to renew a welder's qualification. The more welders you have, the bigger the job to keep it up to date. Elektrolas can support you in this. We have developed an online database in which we can manage all your welders' certificates. With the help of this system we signal when welder certificates are about to expire and inform you about this. In this way, we ensure that your welders take new tests on time and that their certificates do not expire. This way you are not faced with unnecessary surprises or costs.
