Visual Welding Inspector Training: VT

With a welding procedure qualification, you demonstrate that your welding method achieves the correct mechanical values. Do you have a new welding method in your welding company? Then you need a welding procedure qualification to meet the quality requirements of the welding work. In addition to welder qualifications, Elektrolas can also certify welding procedures. The qualification is carried out according to European and/or American standards.

Target

Welding work performed is subject to increasingly stringent requirements. To identify welding imperfections at an early stage, it is important to perform a proper visual inspection according to established procedures. To do that, you need to have sufficient knowledge in the field of visual inspection of welding. After the Visual Welding Inspector training you will have increased your theoretical and practical knowledge and receive a VTw-1 or VTw-2 certificate.
.

Intended for

Executive welders, welding foremen, QA/QC staff and inspectors who want to gain more insight on visual inspection of welding.

What is the difference between VTw-1 and VTw-2

When choosing a Visual Welding Inspector training program, you have a choice of Level 1 and Level 2. Depending on how you want to apply the knowledge you have gained after training, you will choose Level 1 or Level 2.

After completing the VTw level/level 1 course, you will have been introduced to all topics and procedures relevant to performing visual inspection, as named in the text block below. You can perform inspections under the supervision of a Level 2 Visual Welding Inspector, who evaluates the welding work.

After taking the VTw-2 course, you can independently assess welding work. During the training you go deeper into the material than in level 1. Therefore, after the training you can also supervise Level 1 Welding Inspectors. A level 2 Welding Inspector also bears responsibility for the chosen inspection methods.

Content

During welding inspector training, the following topics are covered:
  • Principles of visual assessment
  • Visual inspection techniques
  • Inspection characteristics and applications
  • Welding processes and materials
  • Report
  • Inspection during operation, overhaul and maintenance
  • Other NDT techniques
  • Safety and certification

As indicated above, the degree of depth and understanding of the material is the difference between VTw-1 and VTw-2. This makes the VTw level 2 training of added value when the student wants to supervise welding work of other welders after training.

VT certificate European qualified

The training is completed with a theory and practical exam under the supervision and responsibility of the Dutch Institute for Welding Technology (NIL). After passing the exam you will receive from us respectively a VTw-1 or a VTw-2 certificate according to the NEN-EN-ISO 9712. This includes the assessment standards NEN-EN-ISO 10042 and 5817 – aluminum, nickel, steel and stainless steel. The internationally recognized certificate is accredited in accordance with ISO 17024.

Return days and workshops

The certificate obtained during the Viseel Welding Inspector training must be kept valid. You must be able to demonstrate that you are keeping your knowledge and skills up to date. To support you in this, Elektrolas organizes an annual refresher day. For this refresher day you receive points that you can use for the 5-yearly renewal of your certificate.
