STAP budget: for training and development

STAP budget is a new reimbursement for training. Employed people and job seekers can apply for this subsidy from March 1, 2022. The STAP account can be used to follow a training course or education. Per year you can do a maximum of 1 STAP training, for which a maximum of 1000 euros STAP budget can be granted. Elektrolas has training, courses and trainings for which this reimbursement is eligible.

What is the STAP budget?

STAP stands for Stimulating the Labor Market Position. It is a government initiative and replaces the current deduction for study costs in the income tax return. The government wants to give employees and job seekers more control over their careers: what do you do in your job now and what do you want to improve, or what do you want for your future job and what do you need for it? It is important to continue to develop in order to remain employable on the job market. The STAP budget is used to cover (part of) the costs of a training activity. As of March 1, 2022, this budget can be applied for. Annually there is 1000 euro per person available, but there is a maximum on the total subsidy pot.

What can I apply the STAP budget for?

The STAP budget is aimed at training and retraining activities related to your job. You can develop in certain activities in your current job or qualify for a higher position. But you can also use it to retrain. By continuing to develop you keep control of your own career.

Elektrolas is affiliated with the OOM Foundation (Training Development Metalworking) and is therefore a recognized training provider. Therefore, all our courses, workshops and trainings qualify for the STAP-budget.

How can I apply for the STAP budget?

You can apply for your STAP budget in just four steps. The government does have some conditions: you are between 18 and pensionable age, you are employed, an entrepreneur or currently without work, you have not yet received a STAP budget this year and there is still a budget in the subsidy pot.

1. Choose your education, workshop or training at Elektrolas and register.
Register via the registration form and indicate that you want to apply for the STAP budget. Make sure you do this on time. The UWV uses different application periods, and the subsidy pot is limited.

2. Receive the STAP application certificate
After you have registered you will receive your STAP proof of registration by email. You need this for the application of your STAP budget at the UWV.

3. Apply for your STAP budget at UWV
Go to www.uwv.nl/stap, log in with your DigiD and apply for the STAP budget. The UWV will inform you within 4 weeks whether your application has been approved.

4. Elektrolas settles the STAP budget
If your request is approved by the UWV, we receive the STAP budget. If the training costs are higher than the allowance, we settle this with your training costs.
